Bruce County, Ontario: Bruce County and the Municipality of Brockton are proud to support the 2026 International Plowing Match (IPM) and Rural Expo, taking place September 22–26, 2026, in Walkerton. For five days, the County and Municipality will welcome visitors from across Ontario — and beyond — to experience a joint showcase highlighting the region’s agricultural heritage, innovation, and vibrant community. Saugeen Conservation has issued a Flood Warning for Brockton due to flooding along Silver Creek. Heavy rainfall (30–45 mm) overnight caused the creek to overflow, with more rain (10–15 mm) expected today. Debris at road crossings may worsen conditions. Localized flooding is also reported along the Saugeen River at Lobies Park. Please use caution near waterways. Flows are strong and banks may be unstable. Residents near Silver Creek should stay alert. This advisory is in effect until March 12, 2026 at 4:30 PM. A reminder that Municipal Road Closures are posted to Municipal 511's website.

Bruce County, Ontario: Phase 2 of the Durham Street bridge rehabilitation project will resume on Monday, March 9, 2026. Initially, motorists can expect intermittent lane closures on the bridge, with traffic control measures in place. Within the month, the bridge will transition to alternating traffic with a single-lane closure managed by temporary traffic lights and additional traffic control measures. The Municipality of Brockton is pleased to recognize the outstanding contributions and long-standing service of Deputy Chief Glen Wilhelm of the Walkerton Fire Department, who will be retiring from his role as Deputy Chief effective July 1, 2026. Following his retirement, Glen will continue to support the department in the honorary role of Deputy Chief Emeritus. Read the Press Release for more information.

The Municipality of Brockton has completed an update to its Community Improvement Plan (CIP) to introduce new and enhanced financial incentives that support the development of multi-unit and affordable housing on eligible properties across the municipality. On January 13, 2026, Brockton Council adopted By-law 2026-007, formally approving the updated Community Improvement Plan. Read the News Post for more information.

The Municipality Brockton is excited to partner with Bruce County to launch the Spruce the Bruce program on February 2, 2026. Spruce the Bruce provides grant funding to help strengthen communities as well as maintain and enhance downtown businesses. The Corporation of the Municipality of Brockton is seeking Requests for Expressions of Interest (‘REOI”) from qualified developers for the development of a residential subdivision composed of 51 housing units referred to as "the Eastridge Subdivision". The Municipality invites proposals that can help realize the potential for the Eastridge Subdivision as a new development for “missing middle” housing units, developing the Eastridge Subdivision into a vibrant, sustainable, and design-forward neighbourhood that responds to the community’s housing and growth needs.
