Service Disruptions

The watermain break on Ridout Street has been successfully repaired and water service has been restored to normal. Residents on the Walkerton Water System may now resume normal water use. Thank you for your cooperation and patience while crews worked to address the issue. There were no concerns with the safety or quality of the drinking water system as a result of this incident. We appreciate the efforts of our crews and the cooperation of residents during this time.

Residents on the Walkerton Water System should continue to conserve water - limiting showers, lawn watering, dishwasher and washer use - until further notice. Crews continue to address the watermain break on Ridout Street, Walkerton. Residents may be experiencing low to no water pressures until crews have it fixed. There are currently no concerns with the safety or quality of the drinking water system. The water conservation request is to help maintain adequate water supply and pressure while crews complete the repairs. We appreciate your cooperation and will provide another update once more information is available.

The Municipality of Brockton is aware that residents of Ridout St, Thomas St, and Westwood Subdivision may be experiencing low to no water pressures at this time due to a watermain break. Veolia staff are on site attending to the break. Walkerton residents are asked to conserve water at this time, until a further update is provided.

The Municipal Office, Brockton Child Care Centre, and Community Services Department (Parks and Recreation) Administration Office will be closed on Monday, August 3, 2026 for Civic Holiday. Our offices will reopen on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. Council and staff wish you a safe and happy long weekend!

The Municipality of Brockton and Veolia Water will be repairing a watermain break at Robinson and South Streets in Walkerton on July 15, 2026 between approximately 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The following areas may be impacted by a temporary water disruption: Robinson St. from South St. to Prince St. and South St. east of McNab St. We thank you for your patience and understanding as this infrastructure is repaired.

As of July 9, 2026, Phase 2 of the Durham Street Bridge Rehabilitation continues in Walkerton. From 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, there will be alternating, single-lane traffic with traffic control in place. From 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., the bridge will have both lanes open for two-way traffic. Bruce County anticipates completion of bridge surface work by the end of July 2026. The Brockton Child Care Centre, and Community Services (Parks and Recreation) Administration Office, Municipal Office and the Brant Landfill will be closed on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 for Canada Day. Our offices reopen on Thursday, July 2, 2026 and the Brant Landfill will reopen on Saturday, July 4, 2026. We invite you to join in the variety of celebrations happening at Centennial Park in Walkerton from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. including inflatables and activities, foam party, free swim, BBQ and cake, live music and more!
