Enhanced Monitoring of Pinkerton Flooding
Extensive flooding is occurring in Pinkerton due to a breach of a privately-owned dyke. The Municipality of Brockton is continuing to coordinate with external agencies, including the County of Bruce, Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority, Ministry of Natural Resources and other Provincial agencies.
The Municipality remains in an Enhanced Monitoring State, with the Municipal Emergency Control Group meeting regularly to assess conditions and coordinate response efforts. Municipal crews continue to conduct daily site inspections, ongoing monitoring, and maintain regular communications with the affected residents.
Residents are strongly advised to avoid the area and refrain from accessing closed roads as roadways may be compromised. Due to elevated water levels and limited access to the site, repairs will take time.
The Municipality will continue to provide updates as the situation evolves.
Serviced Industrial Land Available in Walkerton's Growing Business Park
Looking for a new home for your business? Consider Walkerton's East Ridge Business Park, only a few hours from metropolitan Toronto and major centres in Southwestern Ontario.
Walkerton's East Ridge Business Park features over 160 acres of prime industrial land on Bruce Road 4 between Walkerton and Hanover, zoned for a wide variety of uses. Municipally owned lots are serviced with water, sewer, hydro, natural gas and access to high-speed Internet, with no additional development charges.
The park is strategically located in southern Grey-Bruce, about two hours from the GTA and urban centres. It's 40 minutes from the largest nuclear energy plant in the world, Bruce Power, and part of the region's Clean Energy Frontier network.
East Ridge is currently expanding, with lots in Phase 3 now available to purchase at a cost of $199,000 per acre. Municipal staff are available to assist with the development process; those looking to expand, relocate or establish a new business, are welcome.
Phase 3 servicing of the business park is currently underway.
Brockton's strategic plans for growth, including new investments made in the East Ridge Business Park, were recently featured in a Business View Magazine feature titled "A Bruce County community leveraging its economic strengths and forward-looking leadership to ensure long-term growth."
