Economic Development
The Municipality of Brockton is a vibrant community located 90 minutes north west of GTA. Its bountiful farms, municipal airport, charismatic downtown core and industries provide a well-rounded business community. The town of Walkerton includes many federal, provincial, county and municipal agencies and is to home the Walkerton Clean Water Center (WCWC).
Walkerton's business community is spread throughout the town. The East Ridge Business Park, located east of the downtown core, features residential, recreational, government and industrial properties. The main street includes a number of stores, restaurants and service providers, while the south end of town boasts a second commercial district and an industrial park.
Residents in the Brockton area live in an energetic agricultural community. It is the community's agricultural heritage that has led to many residents having a strong work ethic and commitment to product and service quality. Walkerton residents also enjoy lower housing costs and immediate access to the natural environment compared to their urban counterparts.
Development costs are also lower in the Brockton area compared to larger urban centres. There are no commercial or industrial development charges, which lowers business expansion costs.
