Winter Weather & Garbage Collection Notice - January 20, 2026Unfortunately, backroads are not safe for travel at this time, and as a result, the Township of Brant and other similar rural areas will not be serviced today.Please note: Any garbage that is missed or not collected today will be eligible for an “Extra” pickup next week on your regular collection day.Bruce Waste Disposal appreciates your patience and understanding as crews prioritize safety during these winter conditions.

Significant Weather Event Declared - January 20, 2026
As of 8:00 a.m. on January 20, 2026, the Municipality of Brockton has declared a Significant Weather Event in accordance with Ontario Regulation 366/18. All roads and sidewalks maintained by the Municipality will be in a "state of repair" until further notice. This declaration is not a notice of closed roads and the Municipality of Brockton remains diligent in providing continued winter maintenance to ensure public safety. Drivers and pedestrians are encouraged to use an appropriate level of caution when travelling during this event.

Significant Weather Event Ended - January 5, 2026
As of 2:30 p.m. on January 5, 2026 the Municipality of Brockton has ended the Significant Weather Event. Caution should still be observed as regular maintenance activities are still occurring to return the roadway and sidewalk conditions to a state of repair.

Walkerton Snow Removal - Tuesday January 6Municipal staff will be clearing excess snow from streets in Walkerton on Tuesday January 6 starting at 1:00 a.m. Please ensure all vehicles are off the roads to assist with snow clearing. Any vehicle obstructing the removal of snow will be towed at the owner’s expense.
A reminder that Winter Parking Provisions remain in effect - no person may park on a highway between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. during the months of November to April.

Waste collection is cancelled for Brockton (Brant township area) residents for December 30th, 2025. Walkerton residents may also experience a missed collection, however the contractor is working to complete this section. An update may be provided later.Dec 30, 2025

Holiday Landfill Hours and Depot Closure (1)❗Holiday Landfill Hours and Depot Closures ❗Brant Landfill will be open:📌December 24th 9:00am - 1:00pm📌 December 27th 8:00am - 4:00 pm📌December 31st 9:00am - 1:00pmGreenock Transfer Station will be open:📌 December 27th 8:00am - 1:00pm📌 January 3rd 8:00am - 4:00pm❗❗Reminder: Walkerton Recycling Depot is CLOSED as of December 30th at 2pm ❗❗Under the new legislation, convenience depots are not going to be supported or funded by Circular Materials. A convenience depot is defined as a depot that is located within an area that currently has curbside collection. As a result, the following changes will be made to the convenience depots in Brockton:▶ Blue Box Recycling, Film Plastics and Cardboard bins will be removed from the Walkerton Recycling Depot, Brant landfill and the Greenock Transfer Station.▶ The Walkerton Recycling Depot will be closing and bins removed on December 30th at 2pm▶ Scrap metal and E-Waste still being collected at the Brant Landfill.If disposing of carboard at the Walkerton Recycling Depot after Christmas, ensure the carboard is placed within the bins provided, and is flattened to ensure maximum use of the bins. If a bin is full, please do not place the cardboard outside of the bins.Recyclable materials will NOT be accepted at this location after December 30th at 2pm.Dec 27, 2025

Municipal Offices Holiday Closures and Public Skating Over Holidays
The Municipal Office and Brockton Child Care Centre will be closed for the holidays at 1:00 p.m. on December 24, 2025 until January 1, 2026. The Community Services (Parks and Recreation) Administration Office will be closed at 1:00 p.m. on December 24, 2025, and again on December 25th, December 26th, December 31st and January 1, 2026. Water Main Break - Pine StreetMunicipal staff would like to advise residents of a water main break on Pine Street, between Yonge Street and Mary Street. Crews are on site working and residents in the area may experience loss of water while repairs are underway. We thank residents for their patience while we repair the issue and request they by-pass the area if possible.
