Municipal Offices Holiday Closures and Public Skating Over Holidays
The Municipal Office and Brockton Child Care Centre will be closed for the holidays at 1:00 p.m. on December 24, 2025 until January 1, 2026. The Community Services (Parks and Recreation) Administration Office will be closed at 1:00 p.m. on December 24, 2025, and again on December 25th, December 26th, December 31st and January 1, 2026. Holiday Landfill Hours and Depot Closure❗Holiday Landfill Hours and Depot Closures ❗Brant Landfill will be open:📌December 24th 9:00am - 1:00pm📌 December 27th 8:00am - 4:00 pm📌December 31st 9:00am - 1:00pmGreenock Transfer Station will be open:📌 December 27th 8:00am - 1:00pm📌 January 3rd 8:00am - 4:00pm❗❗Reminder: Walkerton Recycling Depot is CLOSED as of December 30th at 2pm ❗❗Under the new legislation, convenience depots are not going to be supported or funded by Circular Materials. A convenience depot is defined as a depot that is located within an area that currently has curbside collection. As a result, the following changes will be made to the convenience depots in Brockton:▶ Blue Box Recycling, Film Plastics and Cardboard bins will be removed from the Walkerton Recycling Depot, Brant landfill and the Greenock Transfer Station.▶ The Walkerton Recycling Depot will be closing and bins removed on December 30th at 2pm▶ Scrap metal and E-Waste still being collected at the Brant Landfill.If disposing of carboard at the Walkerton Recycling Depot after Christmas, ensure the carboard is placed within the bins provided, and is flattened to ensure maximum use of the bins. If a bin is full, please do not place the cardboard outside of the bins.Recyclable materials will NOT be accepted at this location after December 30th at 2pm.Dec 22, 2025

Water Main Break - Pine StreetMunicipal staff would like to advise residents of a water main break on Pine Street, between Yonge Street and Mary Street. Crews are on site working and residents in the area may experience loss of water while repairs are underway. We thank residents for their patience while we repair the issue and request they by-pass the area if possible.

Walkerton Snow Removal - December 17, 2025
Municipal staff will be clearing excess snow from streets in Walkerton on Wednesday December 17 starting at 1:00 a.m. Please ensure all vehicles are off the roads to assist with snow clearing. Any vehicle obstructing the removal of snow will be towed at the owner’s expense.
A reminder that Winter Parking Provisions remain in effect - no person may park on a highway between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. during the months of November to April.

A reminder that a vacancy exists on the Municipality of Brockton Council for one (1) Councillor. Council will fill this vacancy by appointment in accordance with the Council Vacancy Replacement Procedure Policy. The term of this position is from the date of Council appointment (mid-January 2026) until the swearing in of the next Council after the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election (November 14, 2026). Bruce County Media Release: Durham Street Bridge in Walkerton Temporarily Re-Opens
Bruce County, Ontario: The Durham Street Bridge on Bruce Road 4 in Walkerton will temporarily re-open to two-lane traffic on December 19, 2025. This temporary reopening is part of the project’s winter shutdown and is intended to improve traffic flow and support winter maintenance activities. Read the Media Release for more information.

Special Council Agenda - Wednesday, December 17, 2025
Council is holding a Special Council Meeting on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bruce County Council Chambers (30 Park Street, Walkerton, ON N0G 2V0) and electronically on Zoom Video Conferencing and livestreamed to the Municipality's Agenda Management Software, eSCRIBE. The purpose of this Special Council Meeting is to consider Public Meetings on the new Walkerton Community Official Plan and Zoning By-Law Review, and the Updated Community Improvement Plan. Following the Public Meetings, Council will then consider the 2026 Mayor's Budget.
