  • Pre-Authorized Payment Plan Process During Canada Post Strike

    The Municipality of Brockton encourages residents that are currently enrolled in Pre-Authorized Payment (PAP) plans to contact the Municipality of Brockton prior to December 12, 2025 to obtain your PAP amounts for December 2025 and predicted 2026 PAP amounts. The Municipality can be contacted in-person at 100 Scott Street, Walkerton, or by calling 519-881-2223 x 139, or by emailing our Tax Department. Due to the ongoing Canada Postal Strike, the Municipality will not be sending letters to residents to inform them of these PAP amounts.

  • Municipal Office open during Canada Post strike

    The Municipal Office located at 100 Scott Street, Walkerton remains open for service during the Canada Post strike that has started today, September 26, 2025. Residents who do not feel comfortable visiting the Municipal Office during the Canada Post strike can contact staff by email or phone, drop-off documentation and/or payments to our Municipal Office Drop-Off box which is checked regularly by staff.

    The upcoming tax due date and utility (water) bill due date of September 30, 2025 remains in effect.

  • Joint Media Release: Bruce County Housing Corporation Purchases Site in Walkerton for New 40-Unit Development

    September 4, 2025 - Bruce County, Ontario: 1.5 acres of land located on Eastridge Road in Walkerton will be the future site of a 40-unit residential apartment-style development. The finalization of the purchase and sale between the Bruce County Housing Corporation (BCHC) and the Municipality of Brockton was part of the September 4, 2025, Bruce County Housing Corporation board meeting. Read the News Post for full details.

  • Municipal Offices Closed for Labour Day 2025
    The Municipal Office, Community Services (Parks and Recreation) Administration Office, and Brockton Child Care Centre will be closed on Monday, September 1, 2025 for Labour Day. Our offices reopens on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

  • Partial Open Air Burn Ban Lifted - August 20, 2025

    The Chief Fire Official for Brockton has lifted the partial open air burn ban as of 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. The partial burn ban was issued on August 11, 2025 due to recent extreme temperatures and a lack of rainfall.

    Agricultural, brush, and derelict building burn permits can now resume. Recreational fires (for cooking and warmth) can also continue, in compliance with Brockton’s Open Air Burn By-Law 2017-034.

  • Notice of High Water Consumption

    Due to increased water usage, the Municipality of Brockton is reminding residents of By-Law 2005-23: Being a By-Law to Restrict the Use of Municipal Water Supply By Limiting The Times Permitted to Water Gardens or Lawns. 

    Watering Schedule:

    •    Even-numbered civic addresses: Permitted to water on even-numbered calendar days between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and between 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
    •    Odd-numbered civic addresses: Permitted to water on odd-numbered calendar days between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and between 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
    •    Automatic watering systems: May operate any day, but only between 2:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.

    Residents are also asked to be mindful of their overall daily water consumption to help conserve water supply and reduce the strain on the municipal system.

  • Chief Fire Official Issues Partial Open Air Burn Ban - August 11, 2025

    The Chief Fire Official for the Municipality of Brockton has issued a partial ban on open air fires (agricultural, brush, and derelict buildings) until further notice due to recent extreme temperatures and a lack of rainfall. This partial ban takes effect immediately, and agricultural, brush, and derelict building burn permits are suspended until further notice.

    Recreational fires (for cooking and warmth) are still permitted to continue, in compliance with Brockton’s Open Air Burn By-Law 2017-034.
