Partial Open Air Burn Ban Lifted - August 20, 2025
The Chief Fire Official for Brockton has lifted the partial open air burn ban as of 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. The partial burn ban was issued on August 11, 2025 due to recent extreme temperatures and a lack of rainfall.
Agricultural, brush, and derelict building burn permits can now resume. Recreational fires (for cooking and warmth) can also continue, in compliance with Brockton’s Open Air Burn By-Law 2017-034.

Chief Fire Official Issues Partial Open Air Burn Ban - August 11, 2025
The Chief Fire Official for the Municipality of Brockton has issued a partial ban on open air fires (agricultural, brush, and derelict buildings) until further notice due to recent extreme temperatures and a lack of rainfall. This partial ban takes effect immediately, and agricultural, brush, and derelict building burn permits are suspended until further notice.
Recreational fires (for cooking and warmth) are still permitted to continue, in compliance with Brockton’s Open Air Burn By-Law 2017-034.

Municipal Offices Closed for Civic Holiday 2025
The Municipal Office, Brockton Child Care Centre, and Community Services Department (Parks and Recreation) Administration Office will be closed on Monday, August 4, 2025 for Civic Holiday. Our offices will reopen on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. Council and staff wish you a safe and happy long weekend!

Municipal Offices and Brant Landfill Closed for Canada Day 2025
The Municipal Office, Brockton Child Care Centre, and Community Services Department (Parks and Recreation) Administration Offices, and the Brant Landfill will be closed on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 for Canada Day. Our offices and the Brant Landfill will reopen on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. We invite you to join in the variety of celebrations happening at Centennial Park in Walkerton from 10:00 a.m. until 2:15 p.m. including inflatables and activities, foam party, free swim, BBQ and cake, live music and more! Happy Canada Day!

Durham Street Bridge Temporary Evening Closure - May 19, 2025
The Durham Street Bridge in Walkerton will be fully closed from 10:00 p.m. on Monday, May 19, 2025, until 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. Motorists and pedestrians are asked to use alternate routes, to be patient and drive safely as the contractor works to complete crucial repairs to the bridge. The closure is needed to shift the alternating lanes from the south side of the bridge to the north side. Once the full closure has ended, the bridge will return to alternating traffic with a single lane closure using temporary traffic lights.

Municipal Offices Closed for Easter - April 18 & 21, 2025
The Municipal Office, Community Services (Parks and Recreation) Administrative Office, and Brockton Child Care Centre are closed for Easter on Friday, April 18th and Monday, April 21st, 2025. Our offices reopen on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2025. Staff and Council wish you a safe and happy holiday weekend!

Durham St Bridge Reopened - March 19, 2025
As of 4:25 p.m. on March 19, 2025 Bruce County has reopened the Durham Street Bridge in Walkerton to alternating single lane traffic once again. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Lobies Park Bridge Reopened - March 19, 2025
The Municipality of Brockton has reopened the Lobies Park Bridge along Yonge Street North between Durham Street and Valleyside Drive, Walkerton. We thank residents for their patience as the Municipality and Bruce County worked together to ensure the safety of our residents and infrastructure.

Hanover/Walkerton Landfill - Temporary ClosureDue to flooding over the entrance road, the Hanover/Walkerton Landfill Site will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, March 18th.Note that garbage collection remains unaffected for Brant and Walkerton West tomorrow - timing of pickup will be affected due to the landfill and bridge closures.

Lobies Park Bridge Closure - March 17, 2025
Both lanes of the Lobies Park Bridge along Yonge Street between Durham Street and Valleyside Drive, Walkerton are now closed to traffic due to flooding. The Municipality encourages residents to continue avoiding the area and follow alternative routes into Walkerton along Bruce Road 3 and/or Highway 9. Thank you for your continued cooperation.
