Brockton, ON, February 23, 2026 – The Municipality of Brockton and project developer Edificio are pleased to announce significant progress on a new integrated food, retail, and fuel development at 2 Ontario Road in Walkerton.

The Municipality of Brockton has completed an update to its Community Improvement Plan (CIP) to introduce new and enhanced financial incentives that support the development of multi-unit and affordable housing on eligible properties across the municipality. On January 13, 2026, Brockton Council adopted By-law 2026-007, formally approving the updated Community Improvement Plan. Read the News Post for more information.

The Municipality Brockton is excited to partner with Bruce County to launch the Spruce the Bruce program on February 2, 2026. Spruce the Bruce provides grant funding to help strengthen communities as well as maintain and enhance downtown businesses. The Municipality of Brockton's strategic plans for growth, including new investments made in the East Ridge Business Park, were recently featured in the November 2025 issue of Business View Magazine, recognizing our commitment to building a vibrant, sustainable future. Our economic strengths and forward-looking leadership continue to move our community in the right direction. Take notice that the Municipality of Brockton will be holding two public meetings under Sections 17 and 28 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, C.P.13. The first meeting is a statutory public meeting for a new Official Plan for Walkerton. The second public meeting is for a new Community Improvement Plan update that will provide financial incentives related to multi-unit and affordable housing for eligible properties in the Municipality. The Meetings will be held on December 17, 2025 at 10:00 am. at the Bruce County Council Chambers (30 Park Street, Walkerton). Read the News Post for more information.

September 4, 2025 - Bruce County, Ontario: 1.5 acres of land located on Eastridge Road in Walkerton will be the future site of a 40-unit residential apartment-style development. The finalization of the purchase and sale between the Bruce County Housing Corporation (BCHC) and the Municipality of Brockton was part of the September 4, 2025, Bruce County Housing Corporation board meeting. Read the News Post for full details.
