Landfills | Municipality of Brockton

Brockton maintains the Brant Landfill, Greenock Transfer Station, and the Walkerton Recycling Depot in addition to the Walkerton/Hanover Landfill that is run in conjunction with the Town of Hanover for Walkerton and Hanover residents.

Residents in the former townships of Brant are directed to the Brant Landfill, and the former township of Greenock residents are directed to the Greenock Transfer Station in most instances.

The Landfills will be closed on July 1st, 2025 for Canada Day.

We encourage residents to use curbside pickup whenever possible. Note: Only clear garbage bags are accepted!

In 2022, the Town of Hanover (Town) initiated a Class Environmental Assessment (EA) study to review the alternative methods to manage the leachate from the Hanover Walkerton Landfill Site.

An on-line Public Information Centre (PIC) has been established to present and obtain public input on the alternative options, evaluation process and the preliminary preferred solution. As of May 15, 2025, the PIC presentation and associated material will be available at https:/www.hanover.ca/hanover-walkerton-landfill-site-leachate-management-class-ea. Print copy of the PIC material can be reviewed in-person at the Town’s office during regular business hours. Comments relating to the PIC will be received until June 26, 2025, and incorporated into the final report.
