Comprehensive Zoning By-Law & Official Plan Review

Notice of Passing: New Comprehensive Zoning By-Law

Take notice that the Council of the Municipality of Brockton having held Public Meeting May 26, 2026 under Sections 34 of the Planning Act, has passed By-Law 2026-056 to repeal and replace the in-effefct Zoning By-Law to reflect the changes from the New Walkerton Official Plan on the 6th day of June 2026 as well as the County of Bruce Official Plan. The Zoning By-Law will be applicable to all lands within the Municipality  of Brockton.

The Municipality of Brockton completed a review and update of its Walkerton Official Plan and Brockton Comprehensive Zoning By-law.

An Official Plan describes the Municipality’s policies on how the municipality will grow, what will be protected and how land in your community should be used.  An Official Plan is prepared with input from your community to ensure it meets your specific needs.

A Zoning By-law is a legal document which implements the Official Plan. It regulates the use of the land and the required standards for each use.

The intent of this update was to review the existing planning framework to incorporate new policy direction following recent changes to provincial legislation and to align with the Bruce County Official Plan, and consider local planning issues that impact the community.

The new Official Plan was adopted on January 13, 2026, and the Zoning By-Law was passed on June 23, 2026.
