Municipal Offices Holiday Closures
The Municipal Office and Brockton Child Care Centre will be closed for the holidays at 1:00 p.m. on December 24, 2025 until January 1, 2026. The Community Services (Parks and Recreation) Administration Office will be closed at 1:00 p.m. on December 24, 2025, and again on December 25th, December 26th, December 31st and January 1, 2026. All offices reopen on January 2, 2026. Council and staff wish you a safe and happy holiday season!

Apply to Serve as a Brockton Councillor
The Municipality currently has a vacancy for one (1) Councillor. Council will appoint a new individual to fill this Councillor seat in January in accordance with our Council Vacancy Replacement Procedure Policy. The appointed individual will serve as Councillor from the date of their appointment (mid-January) until the end of the current Council Term (November 14, 2026).
Applications are open to fill the vacant Brockton Councillor seat until January 6, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.
In mid-January, Council will hold a Special Council Meeting to consider Candidate applications, and appoint one individual to serve as Councillor for the remainder of the 2026 Council Term.

The Municipality maintains a large number of cemeteries within the municipal boundaries, including three active cemeteries. Municipal staff are available year round at the Municipal Office during regular office hours to assist with the following:
The Walkerton Cemetery is open year round - with minimal maintenance in the winter, and winter interments are available at winter rates from November until April each year. The Starkvale and Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery are only open from May to October and do not permit winter interments.
The Municipality of Brockton does not manage the Douglas Hill Cemetery, for more information on this cemetery, please contact Les Abell.

Brockton maintains a number of abandoned cemeteries located within the municipality. If you are looking for family history or genealogical information you are encouraged to visit the cemetery site yourself as we do not have complete burial records at the Municipal Office.
The Bruce County Museum has produced a Bruce County Cemetery Locator which lists cemeteries by historical townships and provides co-ordinates, civic address and legal descriptions for the cemeteries on this list.
