Enhanced Monitoring of Pinkerton Flooding
Extensive flooding is occurring in Pinkerton due to a breach of a privately-owned dyke. The Municipality of Brockton is continuing to coordinate with external agencies, including the County of Bruce, Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority, Ministry of Natural Resources and other Provincial agencies.
The Municipality remains in an Enhanced Monitoring State, with the Municipal Emergency Control Group meeting regularly to assess conditions and coordinate response efforts. Municipal crews continue to conduct daily site inspections, ongoing monitoring, and maintain regular communications with the affected residents.
Residents are strongly advised to avoid the area and refrain from accessing closed roads as roadways may be compromised. Due to elevated water levels and limited access to the site, repairs will take time.
The Municipality will continue to provide updates as the situation evolves.
Service Disruption: Walkerton Parks and Ball Diamonds Closed Due to Flooding
Centennial Park, Lobies Park, and the Walkerton Kinsmen Tot Lot Park, and Walkerton Ball Diamonds are all closed due to flooding. Low lying areas of trails may also be flooded out due to high water levels along the Saugeen River and Silver Creek and ongoing rainfall. Please avoid these areas as they pose a safety risk.
The Municipality maintains a large number of cemeteries within the municipal boundaries, including three active cemeteries. Municipal staff are available year round at the Municipal Office during regular office hours to assist with the following:
The Walkerton Cemetery is open year round - with minimal maintenance in the winter, and winter interments are available at winter rates from November until April each year. The Starkvale and Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery are only open from May to October and do not permit winter interments.
The Municipality of Brockton does not manage the Douglas Hill Cemetery, for more information on this cemetery, please contact Les Abell.

The Bruce County Museum has produced a Bruce County Cemetery Locator which lists cemeteries by historical townships and provides co-ordinates, civic address and legal descriptions for the cemeteries on this list.
