The Brockton Parks and Recreation Department manages our many facilities and community centres throughout Cargill, Elmwood, and Walkerton, maintains multiple parks and pavilions, and various recreation and leisure programs throughout the year.

Vision and Mission

Brockton will be a community where residents and visitors participate in a wide range of recreation and leisure activities, offered in parks, facilities and programming to enjoy a vibrant, engaged and healthy lifestyle.

Mission:

  • To enhance the quality of life and liveability for residents and visitors by offering parks, facilities and programs that maximize community benefit through participation.
  • To enhance the capacity of recreation staff, community organizations and public agencies as sustainable and vibrant contributors to recreation and leisure services.
  • To support the renewal of, and reinvestment in, parks, recreation facilities and open space to ensure high quality and sustainable venues.
  • To provide recreation and leisure services which are sustainable, flexible and affordable in response to changing demographics and recreation trends.
  • To improve economic development and residential development opportunities by investing in programming and facilities within the municipality.
Recreation Master Services and Facilities Plan

The Municipality of Brockton updated its Recreation Master Plan from December 2022 to March 2023. On March 7, 2023 the Council of the Municipality of Brockton adopted the final Recreation Master Services and Facilities Plan following extensive consultation with the community. View our Recreation Master Plan project on our community engagement website, Build Your Brockton for a history of the project.

The Recreation Master Services and Facilities Plan is an update to the Municipality of Brockton’s 2011 Recreation and Leisure Services Master Plan. It aligns with, and builds on, the Municipality of Brockton’s current corporate Strategic Action Plan (2021- 2025). The purpose of the Plan is to guide provision of recreation services, programs, open spaces (parks, trails and water accesses) and facilities for the ten-year period of 2023 to 2033, and allow for greater cost savings, efficiencies and future opportunities. For all intents and purposes, this Plan is considered a parks plan for Brockton.
