About the Position:
The Municipality of Brockton invites qualified applicants for the Child Care Cook – Assistant position. This position will assist the Child Care Cook in the kitchen, prepare meals and snacks for the Children 18 months to 12 years, and will assist with classroom support as needed.
Candidates must be self-motivated, flexible, energetic and have the ability to build trust and positive relationships with children and their families.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepares and/or be responsible for the preparation/delivery of all foods for children within the Centre
- Reviews menus and assist with preparation and serving of meals
- Document menu substitutions as necessary and record in designated place.
- Be aware of food allergies and special diets and prepare separate meals if necessary.
- Completes daily temperature audits for fridge, freezers and storerooms and record findings and records Store, prepare and serve food in accordance with safe food handling techniques
- Assists in receiving and storing incoming food and supplies
- Assists in preparation and planning of menus as required
- Assists with classroom support as needed, up to 30% of the time, based on operational requirements and as directed by management.
- Supervises children in a variety of settings such as out of doors, in the classroom and in the sleep room.
Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills Required:
- Valid Food handler Certificate.
- Experience cooking in a child care setting or restaurant or for a large number of people.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to follow direction and work independently.
- Valid Standard First Aid/CPR.
- Clear vulnerable sector check.
- Basic computer skills.

Hours of Work:
Regular, part-time hours, subject to Centre demands. Brockton Child Care Centre is open Monday to Friday from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm.

What we offer you:
- Rate of pay between $22.01 - $25.75 depending on qualifications and experience
- 20-40 hours per week.
