About the Position:

The Community Services Administrative Assistant provides efficient administrative, financial and organizational support to the Community Services Department.

Primary Responsibilities:

Administration

  • Performs general administrative duties related to Community Services/Recreation including but not limited to general data entry, records keeping, compiles statistical data, composes letters, emails, memos and forms.
  • Assist in developing layouts and production of advertisements, brochures, seasonal guides, promotions and posters for recreation programs, events and departmental projects.
  • Responsible for the Community Services/Recreation department webpages and social media updates as assigned, including sponsorships.
  • Attends Recreation related Committee meetings as required, prepares agendas and completes meeting minutes using E-Scribe Software.
  • Responsible for updating fees, setting up and managing facilities, products, stores, and assisting with program set up in the recreation Management Software.
  • Responsible for scheduling the LED score clock.
  • Responsible for sponsorship programs, including public skating sponsorship, pool sponsorship, and wall panel advertisements. Invoicing and ensuring payments are completed.

Facility Bookings

  • Receives and processes facility booking requests, maintains master schedules for indoor and outdoor municipal facilities, parks, sports fields and ice pad, including seasonal bookings, one-time bookings, socials, large-scale special events, tournaments, practices and playoffs. 
  • Review all facility contract related documentation prior to use of facility ensuring certificate of insurance and special occasion permits (where applicable), including licensed event checklist are submitted and payment is received in accordance with the approved payment schedule.
  • Organize and attend meetings with user groups, including special event organizers. 
  • Coordinates event staff i.e. Bartenders and Security as required.

Financial

  • Responsible for processing payment, monitoring overdue accounts, revenue collection for program registration, admissions, facility bookings, Lobies Campground and all other recreation service revenue using Recreation Management Software (Perfect Mind) and Keystone when applicable.
  • Responsible for Point of Sale, balancing and reconciliation of all cash and preparing bank deposits daily in accordance with policy and procedures established by the Community Services Department and Chief Financial Officer.

Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills Required:

  • 2 years’ diploma in recreation, business or administration considered an asset.
  • One to two years of experience in an office setting in a customer service role. Municipal experience preferred
  • Excellent Communication (written, oral and interpersonal) skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills (teamwork, positive attitude, professionalism, tact and good judgement skills)
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills and the capacity to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, responding with flexibility to changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office Suite (outlook, word, excel, power point) communications and presentation software including demonstrated knowledge of website maintenance.
  • Point of Sale and cash handling experience.
  • Experience with Recreation Software is an asset (PerfectMind).
  • Experience with Financial management software is an asset. (Keystone)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of role and responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Checks
  • Possess a valid Standard First Aid/CPR/AED Certificate.
  • Possess a valid Class “G” Driver’s Licence in good standing.

About the Position:

The Municipality of Brockton invites qualified applicants for the full-time position of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) & Operations Technician. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this position is responsible for performing and coordinating GIS with engineer and consultant related work within the municipality. This position will also be responsible for coordinating Operations data management and technical information to support the Director in legislative compliance. This position will support the Operations Department with capital asset planning and forecasting.

Candidates must be self-motivated, be flexible, exhibit superior time management capabilities have excellent written/oral communication and computer skills including but not limited to; word processing, GPS survey equipment, ArcGIS 10 desktop and database management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Create maps for all departments as required.
  • Support managers in the scheduling of contractor work for planned programs and projects and the development of tenders and proposals.
  • Develop models to assist in strategic calculations.
  • Manage the collection of annual reflectivity data.
  • Develop and manage all web GIS data and applications.
  • Compile and organize data from maps, databases and other sources.
  • Perform spatial analysis.
  • Analyze, query and run reports using GIS data.
  • Database development and management for spatial and related data.
  • Assist the Director and Treasury with asset management component identification related to City Wide software.

Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills Required:

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma related to GIS, Civil Technician or related field.
  • Previous experience in a municipal administration setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in municipal operations or public works maintenance activities.
  • Knowledge of the use of computer software including Microsoft Excel and ArcGIS Online.
  • Project Management certificate considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and proficient skills in varying computer applications including: website maintenance, Microsoft Office Word, Publisher and PowerPoint software, familiarity with Municipal software packages including Keystone and FileHold would be beneficial.
  • Ability to deal with internal and external stakeholders with tact and discretion.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Valid G Driver’s License.

Current Part-Time/Summer Employment Opportunities

The Municipality of Brockton invites qualified applicants for the Supply/Casual Teacher (RECE or Non-RECE). The Supply/Casual Teacher provides a full range of daycare services to children from the ages of 18 months to 12 years of age. Registered Early Childhood Educators (ECE’s) and Non ECE’s are encouraged to apply.

Candidates must be self-motivated, flexible, energetic and have the ability to build trust and positive relationships with children and their families.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Teaches gross motor skills, dramatic play, use of senses and science.
  • Supervises children in a variety of settings such as outdoors, in the classroom and in the sleep room.
  • Encourages children to participate, play cooperatively, problem solve, share and learn about safety.
  • Integrates separate individual programs for special needs children in with the regular program.
  • Assists with planning and organizing special events, field trips and parties.
  • Assists children with hygiene activities.
  • Responds to telephone enquiries, giving out information and taking messages.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills Required:

  • Early Childhood Education Diploma or Equivalency is considered an asset.
  • Registered member of the College of ECE is considered an asset.
  • Experience in the Child Care field.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to follow direction and work independently.
  • Valid First aid/CPR.
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Check.

Hours of Work:

Flexible schedule including early mornings and day shifts with no guarantee of hours, subject to Centre demands. Brockton Child Care Centre is open Monday to Friday from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm.

What we offer you:
