Municipal Office Open During Canada Post Strike
The Municipal Office located at 100 Scott Street, Walkerton remains open for service during the Canada Post strike that has started today, September 26, 2025. Residents who do not feel comfortable visiting the Municipal Office during the Canada Post strike can contact staff by email or phone, drop-off documentation and/or payments to our Municipal Office Drop-Off box which is checked regularly by staff.
The upcoming tax due date and utility (water) bill due date of September 30, 2025 remains in effect. The ongoing Canada Post strike does not impact the Municipality's property tax due date and utility (water) bill due date. Please note that the Canada Post strike will not be accepted as a reason for missed payments. Residents can drop off payments by cheque or cash to the Municipal Office Drop-Off box, or sign up for online payments through their banking institution. While you are visiting the Municipal Office, we ask that you respect the rights of Post Office workers who are conducting their strike at the Walkerton Post Office. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Bruce County has closed the 12th of Brant Bridge, located on Concession 12 between Sideroad 5 and Bruce Road 19, near Chesley, to through traffic until further notice. As a precautionary measure, the bridge will remain closed until a structural inspection can be completed to determine whether the bridge remains safe for public use. Follow posted signage and allow extra travel time.
