Recycling Depot and Landfill Sites

Is it really garbage? Does the item still have some life in it? Can it be repurposed or reused by someone else?  

Save the trip and the landfill fees:

  • Place an ad in the local classifieds
  • Post items on local Facebook swap groups 

Banned Items

These items are NOT accepted in your household garbage bag and are banned from Brockton landfills:

  • Blue Box recyclables
  • Household hazardous waste
  • Electronic e-waste
  • Leaf and yard waste* (Allowed at Landfill but NOT in Household Garbage)

Recycling Depot and Landfill Sites

Brockton residents are serviced by three landfill sites and one recycling depot:

  • Brant Landfill - Residents in the former Brant Township
  • Greenock Landfill - Residents in the former Greenock Township
  • Walkerton - Hanover Landfill - Residents of Walkerton
  • Walkerton Recycling Depot - All Brockton Residents

Brant Landfill

 Brant Landfill Hours, Accepted Items, Fees, and Location

Hours

April 1st to October 31st
Tuesdays and Wednesdays - 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Saturdays - 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

November 1st to March 31st
Wednesdays - 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Saturdays - 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.   

Please note: Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic residents are reminded to wear a face covering and maintain physical distancing when attending the Landfills. A limit of 10 vehicles at a time remains in effect for the Brant Landfill. We encourage residents to use curbside pickup whenever possible. Learn more on our COVID-19 Updates page.

  • Film Plastics

Effective April 1, 2016, a minimum charge of $10.00 applies to all waste weighing 90 kg or under. We strongly encourage you to use curbside collection for Household Waste.

Payment Methods: Cash or Cheque

Effective June 6, 2016, Council approved Resolution 16-18-161 that at the Brant and Greenock Landfills, if appropriate bags are tagged, the minimum charge will be waved. Residents are strongly encouraged to use curbside collection for Household Waste.

Note: Only clear garbage bags are accepted!

Greenock Landfill

Hours

Saturdays - 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. 

COVID-19 Update: The Greenock Landfill is closed to all residents to accommodate staff health and safety. Greenock Landfill staff have been transferred to the Brant Landfill to maintain landfill service in rural areas. Greenock residents can use the Brant Landfill during the temporary closure, and are still encouraged to use curbside pickup.

Walkerton Recycling Depot

Walkerton Recycling Depot Hours, Accepted Items, and Location

Hours

Tuesdays and Thursdays
9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

COVID-19 Update: The Walkerton Recycling Depot is closed until further notice due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Corrugated cardboard and Styrofoam donations can continue to be dropped off.

If a staff member is not present at the Depot, residents can leave items in the front of the first bay door or take their material to one of the Municipal Landfill Sites during regular hours of operation. Cardboard, film plastics, Styrofoam, and clothing donations can be dropped at the Depot at any time without a staff member present.
