Each year, the Municipality of Brockton invests in improving parts of our road, bridge, facility, and water/wastewater infrastructure, including major rehabilitation projects. This process of scheduled maintenance and planned reconstruction keeps infrastructure functioning and in a sustainable condition. The Market Garden (Durham Street Park Development) |
The Municipality is undergoing development of The Market Garden (Durham Street Park) in the community of Walkerton, located between Remax Land Exchange and Walker's Landing. The Durham Street Park Development Committee provide support and input into all aspects of the planning, design, layout and use of The Market Garden. On July 13, 2021 Council passed a resolution approving Report Number REC2021-17 – Durham Street Parkland – The Market Garden and further approving to proceed with tendering for the concept plan for the park, as well as launching a fundraising campaign. As the fundraising campaign is launched, additional information on The Market Garden will be included on our Community Projects webpage. |
East Ridge Business Park Development |
East Ridge Business Park in the community of Walkerton continues to be developed, including road construction and additional signage planned for 2021. |
EPCOR Natural Gas |
Businesses and residents in rural Brockton will soon be able to convert their heating and water systems to natural gas, following the approval of a $20.3-million project by EPCOR Ontario Utilities Inc. to extend natural gas into the region. The provincial government announced $234-million in funding for natural gas projects in 43 communities, including Brockton, to help reduce costs for farmers, businesses and families by offering access to this inexpensive form of energy. Brockton’s project received the third-highest amount. The approval means that natural gas will be extended to most of Brockton, including the communities of Elmwood, Vesta, Solway, Cargill, Pinkerton, Bradley, Glammis, Chepstow, Greenock and Riversdale, plus areas in between, with 501 new hook-ups being created by 2025.
