Each year, the Municipality of Brockton invests in improving parts of our road, bridge, facility, and water/wastewater infrastructure, including major rehabilitation projects. This process of scheduled maintenance and planned reconstruction keeps infrastructure functioning and in a sustainable condition. Find more information on our current and upcoming major capital projects included in our 2021 Municipal Budget.

The Market Garden (Durham Street Park Development)

The Municipality is undergoing development of The Market Garden (Durham Street Park) in the community of Walkerton, located between Remax Land Exchange and Walker's Landing. On July 13, 2021 Council passed a resolution approving Report Number REC2021-17 – Durham Street Parkland – The Market Garden and further approving to proceed with tendering for the concept plan for the park, as well as launching a fundraising campaign.

As the fundraising campaign is launched, additional information on The Market Garden will be included on our Community Projects webpage.

EPCOR Natural Gas

Businesses and residents in rural Brockton will soon be able to convert their heating and water systems to natural gas, following the approval of a $20.3-million project by EPCOR Ontario Utilities Inc. to extend natural gas into the region.

The provincial government announced $234-million in funding for natural gas projects in 43 communities, including Brockton, to help reduce costs for farmers, businesses and families by offering access to this inexpensive form of energy. Brockton’s project received the third-highest amount.

The approval means that natural gas will be extended to most of Brockton, including the communities of Elmwood, Vesta, Solway, Cargill, Pinkerton, Bradley, Glammis, Chepstow, Greenock and Riversdale, plus areas in between, with 501 new hook-ups being created by 2025.

For more information view the Media Release issued June 9, 2021, and Council Report CAO2021-11 - Natural Gas Coming to Brockton which was presented to Council on June 22, 2021. The Council Report includes a map of the area being provided with natural gas, as well as a fact sheet from EPCOR.

Strategic Action Plan

The MunicipalityStrategic Action Plan logo of Brockton is creating a new action plan that will solidify the Municipality’s goals for the next five years and ensure projects are in line with the community’s priorities. Bill Winegard of Winegard Municipal Consulting has been assisting in the process. The action plan will build on the framework outlined in Brockton’s 2013 Strategic Plan, Building a Better Brockton, yet will be updated to reflect our changing economy and local priorities.

View our Strategic Action Plan 2025 webpage to learn more about the process involved, as well as review Council decisions, and associated documentation on the new Strategic Action Plan.
