Press Release: Walkerton Tennis/Pickleball Court Rehabilitation Project Completed

Brockton, ON, May 29, 2024– The Municipality of Brockton is pleased to announce that upgrades to the Walkerton Tennis Courts are now complete! New fencing, lighting, resurfacing, and the addition of three new pickleball courts were included in this project that started construction in Summer 2023.

Mayor Chris Peabody, Councillor Greg McLean, Brockton staff, and the Brockton Parks and Recreation Sub Committee (Tennis/Pickleball Committee) gathered to celebrate the official opening of the courts on May 28, 2024.

This project was prioritized by Council, and supported by our community. The tennis/pickleball court rehabilitation was funded through many generous donations made by local service clubs and businesses throughout the fundraising campaign led by the Parks and Recreation Sub-Committee, and proceeds from the sale of the former Armoury Building.

“Tennis and pickleball are a fantastic way for participants of all ages to enjoy getting active and engaging in sport”, said Colleen Gillis, Director of Community Services. “The upgrades to this facility will provide opportunities within our community to continue to meet the demands and growth of these increasingly popular sports.  We thank the donors for their generosity and the volunteers for giving their time, energy, and support towards this community project.”

The outdoor facility consists of two Tennis Courts and three Pickleball Courts. To learn more about how to purchase a seasonal membership or drop-in fee, please visit the Recreation Programs page on our website.
