Municipality of Brockton Announces Completion of Accessible Washrooms, Changeroom, Concession Booth, Pavilion and Storage Building Funded from Federal Grant “Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program: Community, Culture and Recreation Stream Project” at Bruce Power Regional Soccer Park
Brockton, ON, August 1, 2024 – Today, the Municipality of Brockton officially opened the new Bruce Power Regional Soccer Park accessible washrooms and changerooms, equipment storage, concession booth, pavilion, and additional parking spaces.
The Municipality received the Capital grant through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP) contributed $352,032 from the Federal Government and $293,331 from the Provincial Government to fund a 1583+/-sq.ft. building at the Bruce Power Regional Soccer Park. The new amenities will enhance the experience for both players and spectators, offering convenient access to washroom facilities, water filling station, covered pavilion, and concession area. The concession booth will continue to increase its level of service for the 2024 Season offering a limited variety of refreshments and snacks.
Soccer in the Municipality of Brockton has grown exponentially, and the Bruce Power Regional Soccer Park continues to provide opportunities for more than 600 players from age 4 to adults. “We are incredibly grateful for the ICIP Grant funding to be able to provide these new facilities that enhance and make a more enjoyable and accommodating environments for all players and visitors of the Bruce Power Soccer Park,” stated Chris Peabody, Mayor. “Investing in community infrastructure is essential for a growing community and fostering local sports, recreation and healthy lifestyles,” said Colleen Gillis, Director of Community Services.
The new facility at the Bruce Power Regional Soccer Park has been in operation since opening early July. There are 5 full fields and 4 mini fields with the primary user being Walkerton Football Club. The relocation of the parking lot to better accommodate users occurred in the fall of 2023 with the addition of 2 EV chargers for residents and visitors. The new pavilion area is perfect for a bright, sheltered and accessible area for family gatherings.
