Swimming is an essential life skill and a excellent way to Be Active, stay healthy and have fun. Centennial Park Swimming Pool is open every summer June through August.

Please take a moment and review our pool admission policy prior to coming for your swim.

* Please note the Municipality reserves the right to cancel any class or program due to unforeseen circumstances. Where possible, arrangements will be made to reschedule any missed classes cancelled by the Municipality. In addition programs may be temporarily suspended or cancelled in compliance with the Provincial Recovery Plan and local Covid-19 restrictions.

Swimming Lessons

The Municipality of Brockton offers the Lifesaving Society Swim for Life™ program, with a focus on skill development and Water Smart education in and around the water. You are never to Young to learn! Never too Old to start!

 Lesson Schedule 

 Preschool Levels (3-6 years of age)
 

If your swimmer…

Register in...

Is 3-5 years old and is starting out on his/her own in the water.

Note: Parent participation in the water is recommended.

Preschool A

Can jump into chest deep water (assisted), get their face wet and blow bubbles, float on their front/back for 3 seconds assisted and swim 1-2 metres assisted...

Preschool B

Can jump into chest deep water on their own, submerge and exhale underwater, glide on their front and back for 3 metres (assisted), kick on their back for 5 metres (assisted) and swim 2-4 metres unassisted...

Preschool C

 School Age Levels (5-13 years of age)
 

If your swimmer…

Register in...

Is comfortable in and around the water, can open their eyes and hold breath underwater for 3 second, recover an object from waist deep water while putting their face in the water, flutter kick on front and back...

Swimmer 1

Can independently float on their front and back for 5 seconds, glide 3 metres on their front and back, swim 5-7 metres consecutively, and hold their breath underwater...

Swimmer 2

Can jump into deep water, return to side and exit independently, flutter kick on front and back 10 metres, swim front crawl for 10 metres, tread water for 15 seconds and swim 10-15 metres

Swimmer 3

Can do a kneeling dive into the deep water, flutter kick on front and back for 5 metres and reverse direction for 5 metres, tread water for 30 seconds, perform whip kick in a vertical position and swim 20-25 metres consecutively...

Swimmer 4

Can do a standing dive, swim underwater for 3 metres, complete the swim to survive sequence, scull head first for 10 metres, and flutter kick 4x15 metres with 20 seconds rest...

Swimmer 5

Can shallow dive into deep water, swim underwater for 5 metres, egg beater kick for 30 seconds, swim front crawl for 50 metres, swim head up front crawl for 10 metres and swim 100 metres consecutively

Swimmer 6

Can support themselves at the surface using legs only, swim underwater for 10 meters to recover an object, egg beater kick on back 15 metres, swim front and back crawl for 50 metres, do dolphin dives for 5-10 metres and swim 4x50 metres front on back crawl with 30 seconds rest...

Swimmer 7

Can support themselves at the surface using legs only for 45 seconds, swim breaststroke for 25 metres, swim front crawl for 75 metres, dolphin lick 10 metres, scull feet first for 10 metres and sprint breaststroke for 25 metres...

Swimmer 8

Can carry an object (2.3kg) for 15 metres, lifesaving kick for 25 metres, obstacle swim for 25 metres, swim front and back crawl for 75 metres, swim a fitness workout of 350 metres, swim 100 metres in 3 minutes or better...

Swimmer 9

Can stride entry and swim 25 metres, egg beater kick for 25 metres, swim breaststroke for 75 metres, swim a lifesaving medley for 100 metres, swim 200 metres in 6 minutes or better...
