Bee and Butterfly Gardens |
In 2018 Parks and Recreation planned and developed the planting of low maintenance, Bee and Butterfly pods. This project will commence in several phases each year. Areas that have been identified as key locations included, behind the recycling station, Bend Park, the Nature Park and north east of the soccer fields. The goal is to provide a natural habitat for the declining pollenating population. Phase 1 (2018) was funded with the assistance of: Community Foundation Grey Bruce
Phase 2 (2019) In 2019, phase 2 begin with the development of 3 educational, interactive totem poles. The totem poles will be place throughout the community to educate the public on bees and butterflies. The totem poles will be in place in the spring of 2020.
