An Exciting Idea |
The idea for a splash pad project was first brought to Brockton Council in June 2013 when the Kinsmen Club of Walkerton proposed the idea at a Council meeting, highlighting the health and economic benefits of building a splash pad in Brockton. Brockton Council supported the idea of partnering with the Kinsmen Club and entered into an agreement with the Club in March 2014. As part of the agreement with the Municipality, the Kinsmen Club has committed to raising $80,000 as their contribution to the project with the Municipality contributing up to $80,000. The final estimate for construction of the splash pad is $160,000. |
Construction and Grand Opening |
In September 2015, Brockton Council accepted the tender from ABC Recreation for the construction of the Kinsmen Splash Pad at Centennial Park in Walkerton. The final tender price is $138,049.27 (HST included). Construction of the pad and installation water features began in May 2016 and the Kinsmen Splash Pad is hosted its grand opening on June 25, 2016. The final estimate for total construction costs for the splash pad is $160,000. Check out the Walkerton Kinsmen Splash Pad Video from the Walkerton BIA's YouTube page for more information. |
