On Thursday, February 1, 2024, Bruce County Council received an update from Triton Engineering Services Limited (Triton), regarding the ongoing third-party review of the Durham Street Bridge in Walkerton. Council heard that a recently completed Bridge Condition Survey confirms that the existing bridge is generally structurally sound and “rehabilitation should be investigated as this could be a feasible and economical solution to extending the overall life of the bridge”. Bruce County’s Community Development program, Spruce the Bruce, is now accepting applications. The program provides grant funding to maintain and grow local downtown businesses and communities. Grant criteria and applications can be reviewed online at sprucethebruce.com.
Grants available for commercial properties located within downtown cores:
- Façade Building Improvement
- Fascia Signage
- Perpendicular Signage
- Awning
- Patio Installation
- Community Marketing
