Taxi drivers transport a great number of people and are in a position of trust to deliver each fare to their destination in a safe and timely manner. It is the Municipality's responsibility to provide for the health, safety, and consumer protection of its residents and visitors by licencing taxis in the Municipality.

By-Laws 2005-25 and 2006-12 outline the requirements for obtaining a taxi licence in Brockton.

Effective 2011, all taxi cabs are required to show a bumper sticker which allows persons with disabilities to be assured that they can easily identify the taxi. Legislation also requires that fares are posted and that riders are not charged for assistive devices.
