The Brockton Parks and Recreation Department offers a wide variety of fitness and recreational programs for adults. Most of our programs are seasonal, so check this page regularly for updated information about our current offerings.

Adult Fitness

Core/Interval Cross Training

Core/Interval Cross training will offer a little bit of everything! This high energy class has free weights, kick and punch, spin bikes, fitness ball and core training. It is instructed by Bobbi Sharpe. Please bring your own ball. This program is held at the Walkerton Community Centre, in the auditorium.

Body Toning with Weights

Sculpt your shape and increase body tone through a weight training circuit with core building floor exercises to strengthen your abdominal muscles and posture. This program is held at the Sacred Heart High School in the weight room on Mondays, Wednesdays morning and evening and Friday classes are only in the am.

Morning Pilates & Yoga

The ancient art of Yoga brings body, mind and spirit into harmony, by learning the proper alignment of postures, breathing techniques and relaxation. Pilates is designed to condition, tone and strengthen your muscles. It increases flexibility, improve posture and balance. Please bring a blanket, exercise mat and ball. This program is instructed by Brenda Sharpe and is held at the Walkerton Community Centre.

Gentle Yoga

The practice of yoga improves flexibility and balance, builds strength and can be an effective tool to combat stress and cultivate calmness. Classes will include breathing exercises, postures and relaxation to guide participants into a deeper awareness of themselves:mind, body and spirit.  This class is suitable for beginners and those with previous experience.  Men and women are welcome!  Bring a yoga mat and small blanket to class. Debbie Randall is a certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher This program is held on Mondays at the Walkerton Library in the Gallery room.

Spin Class

Parent and Baby

Baby and Me

This baby friendly class allows parent to participate in an exercises, with baby in the room.  Each class provides a full body workout:cardio, muscular endurance, core and flexibility.  Benefit fromincrease energy, improved posture and stronger core. Huff and Puff Hockey

For those persons 45plus looking to enjoy a good game of shinny on the ice this is for you.  Full equipment is required and there is no body contact.  This is a drop in program at the Walkerton Community Centre held on Wednesday morning.

Martial Arts

Adult Karate

RYUSEI KARATE DO is a traditional style of karate that combines punches, kicks, strikes and blocks typical of karate as well as throws, joints locks and pressure point tactics. Matt Mannerow- Sensi has been teaching and practicing Karate for over twenty years, is the instructor for this program.  Visit www.greybrucekarate.ca for more information. This program is held at the Walkerton Community Centre.

Court Sports

Pickleball

Come and try out this up and coming sport! Pickleball combines tennis, badminton and table tennis into an exciting court sport. Pickleball is occasionally cancelled due to a school function. Must supply own equipment which can be purchased through Brockton Parks and Recreation Department.
