Ontario Sports and Recreation Communities Fund Grant -Get Fit For Active Living

Brockton Parks and Recreation in partnership with the Brockton Area Family Health Team has received an Ontario Sport and Recreation Communities Fund Grant for their grant Application entitled Get Fit for Active Living.

The goal of this project is to engage, educate and provide fitness opportunities for the older adults, to maximize quality of life. The aim is to improve physical literacy among the older adults in our community, encouraging them to become competent across a range of fundamental skills and movement to the point they can self manage their fitness program. The grant will support providing recreational opportunities for a happy, healthy, active life.

Walkerton, Cargill and Elmwood community centres will become hubs where Pickleball, Carpet Bowling, Educational Workshops, Pole Walking and fitness classes will be available in this two year project.

Community Champions are being sought in the role out of several of these initiatives.
